Sustainability Statement: Our Journey Toward a Sustainable Future
At TC, sustainability is one of our goals and an integral part of our identity. Using the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), we focus on three key areas where we can make the most meaningful impact: Community, Lifecycle, and Materials. Here’s how we are progressing on our journey to create a more sustainable future:
Community: Fostering Equity and Well-Being
Aligned with SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth),and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), we are committed to uplifting people and supporting the well-being of our communities.
• Living Wage Employer: We are a proud living wage employer. We ensure our team members earn a fair income, promoting dignity and equality.
• Star Scheme Charity: We have helped establish and support our charity partner, the Star Scheme, dedicated to supporting children living with Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) within our communities and beyond, fostering resilience and opportunities for brighter futures. The efforts of Star Scheme have already had an impact on supporting over 700 families across the whole of the UK.
Lifecycle: Extending Product Longevity and Minimising Waste
Aligned with SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) and SDG 13 (Climate Action), we design products to last, provide solutions for end-of-life recovery, and minimise environmental impact:
• 10-Year Product Guarantee: We’ve extended our furniture guarantee from 5 years to 10 years, showcasing confidence in our craftsmanship and encouraging sustainable consumption by reducing unnecessary replacements.
• Take-Back Service: Our take-back/recycling service offers customers the option to recycle and repurpose used goods, closing the loop on waste.
• Returns Sold to Avoid Landfill: Every returned product is carefully inspected and resold to reduce landfill waste, give items a second life, and promote circularity.
Materials: Ethical Sourcing and Responsible Supply Chains
Aligned with SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) and SDG 15 (Life on Land), we are committed to sourcing materials responsibly and ensuring ethical practices throughout our supply chain:
• FSC Chain of Custody Certification: Our FSC certification ensures that our wood and wood-based products are sourced sustainably, supporting forest preservation and biodiversity.
• Supplier Audits via SEDEX: We currently conduct SEDEX audits on key suppliers contributing to more than 50% of our total product range, and we aim to expand this to our entire supply chain by 2027, promoting transparency, ethical practices, and environmental stewardship.
• Plastic-Waste-Free Production for Titan Chair: We’ve made the UK production of our Titan chair entirely plastic-waste-free, transforming all plastic waste into the Retold Chair, which is made of 100% recycled material. Our ambitious plan is to achieve this milestone across our entire Titan furniture supply chain by January 2026.
Certified Standards: Ensuring Quality and Sustainability
Aligned with SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) and SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), we maintain robust quality and environmental management systems:
• ISO 9001 Certification: Demonstrates our commitment to consistent quality in our products and services, ensuring customer satisfaction and continuous improvement.
• ISO 14001 Certification: This certification reflects our dedication to environmental responsibility, with robust systems in place to manage and reduce our environmental impact.
Looking Forward
While we have made significant strides, we know there is more to achieve. By continuing to prioritise community impact, product lifecycle innovation, and sustainable material sourcing, we reaffirm our commitment to building a better, more sustainable world for generations to come.
